The People Behind
Paint It Black
We're a painting and decorating company servicing Melbourne, Geelong, the Great Ocean Road and South West Victoria. We love what we do which helps us provide a high quality service to our clients.
We wouldn't be Paint It Black without our amazing team of apprentices, qualified painters, supervisors, project coordinators and admin staff.
In May, our very own Rosie Eastwood came Runner Up in the 3rd Year Apprentice category at the 2022 Master Painters Association's Awards for Excellence evening in Melbourne.
Our 4th Year Apprentice Tyler Black was nominated for the Master Builders Associationβs Regional Apprentice of the Year, and for a second year running, Sheldon Ham, Elly Thulborn and Tyler received a Certificate of Merit for the Regional Apprentice Painter of the Year.
Meet our crew
At Paint It Black, itβs the people that make the difference. On the tools, behind the scenes, and everywhere in between. Weβre proud of the crew weβve built: a diverse, down-to-earth team that backs each other, shows up for the work and the laughs, and brings serious skill to every job.
This video is a little window into who we are. Youβll hear from Josh, our founder, talking about what matters most to us. Respect, teamwork, and doing great work without the ego.
Promoting strength
through diversity
At Paint It Black we're always aiming to be a diverse and inclusive workplace where our team are proud to be apart of. We strive to create a working environment where everyoneβs free to be their authentic selves. Our people create our culture.
Paint It Black promote gender equality and LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. The construction industry has always been male dominated, but weβre committed to promoting change because we believe that greater diversity brings unique experiences and skills making our team stronger.
Ways weβre working
towards equality
-
We hire individuals from underrepresented groups in building and construction because we believe that diversity promotes positive change within the industry.
-
We strive to create a positive and safe environment for everyone. We have a dedicated HR & Safety representative and a zero tolerance for disrespectful behaviour on our worksites.
-
We love to recognise important occasions such as International Women's Day and Pride Month. We are committed to educating the community about the importance of diversity within the industry. We believe that by doing this, we can create a more inclusive environment for everyone.
Inclusion in the Workplace
Weβre proud to be an endorsed employer for all women by WORK180 since 2023. A community platform empowering women and marginalised groups with the information they need to make informed career choices, helping them discover workplaces that work for them.
WORK180 only endorse companies that can demonstrate a genuine ongoing commitment to advancing womenβs careers.
In 2025 we were thrilled to take home βMost Improvedβ in the Equitable Workplace Awards. In a typically male-dominated industry like painting, ensuring we have the right culture and policies in place to support diversity, equity, and inclusion at Paint It Black is incredibly important to us.
We are rapidly growing across our key regions of inner and outer Melbourne, Geelong, South West and Great Ocean Road.
